Kotkaniemi foundation

The aim of the Kotkaniemi Foundation is to promote and enhance knowledge of the life’s work of P.E. Svinhufvud and the museum activities that relate more extensively to Finnish independence in Luumäki.  To achieve this goal, the foundation maintains the Kotkaniemi museum, cherishing the memory of P. E. Svinhufvud and Finnish independence.

The idea of the foundation dates back to 2012, when The Finnish Heritage Agency decided to discontinue the maintenance of the Kotkaniemi home museum. The foundation was established by the Luumäki municipality and P.E. Svinhufvud’s memorial foundation in autumn 2013.

The Kotkaniemi Foundation is responsible for keeping the Kotkaniemi home museum open and for maintaining the exhibitions.

Kotkaniemi Advisory Council has been founded to support the activities of the Kotkaniemi Foundation.
